FIONN'S TOUR BLOG ARCHIVE

When we went on tour in mainland Europe and the UK for the first time, Fionn decided to start a tour blog. Here's an archive of his entries.

24/10/2024 - "Paris recap/other crap"

It is day 2 of TOUR TIME and we are just 2 hours out from Trix, Antwerp where we will lay down our rock this evening. Paris was fantastic!! The crowd were lovely. We met this guy called Philippe who bought a record and asked us to play at one of his club nights. What a crazy life! We also had our first video interview which was surprisingly enjoyable. Zoe and Lorene were very kind and made it very easy for us. Check it our on 'Poisson Velo' - French for 'Fish Bike' if I remember correctly - in the near future.

Had the pleasure of meeting the Eiffel Ball on our way to the Ibis hotel.

Ouchhheeeee. JPC endured a curl injury this morning. This man is a chaos magnet. Don't get me started on the antics these 2 got up to in their hotel room last night

Okay that's all for now.

Keep it nice, keep it fine,

25/10/2024 - "Godverdomme! Goddamn me!"

Good afternoon mailers. Tour time continues to bring the joy and oh boy how fun it was to play in Antwerp last night! Somehow word got around and a whopping 66 people made it out to see us play! The merch stand has been a cool way of meeting new heads - one of which asked us if we would ever consider featuring a flugelhorn in our music. And so we devised a plan to have them join us on stage with their flugelhorn next time we make it back to wonderful Antwerp.

Trix is an amazing venue. We played in the small room downstairs which holds about 100 people but the overall site is this big open space with loads of stuff going on like a printmaking studio, artists in residence spaces, rehearsal/recording studios and more! It was great to visit such a nice home for the arts over here. These guys are years ahead of ROI. Speaking of which...

Incorrect.

In the spirit of hitting the open roads again and moving ever forward, we'll leave you with a song to get you through your day.

"PAIN IN MY LIFE, SWORD IN MY EYE"

PS get your whelans ticks. How many times do I have to tell you bicky bastards. 😎🍔🍺✨

Happy new beer,

SR

31/10/2024 - "The Return of the Journal: HALDERN/AMSTERDAM/HACKNEY"

Hi mate! I'm writing to you now from the London - Swansea train. It's been a few countries since the last recap so there's kinda too much to go over but I'll give it my best shot for the sake of how much I love doing stuff that's fun. So let's make our way back through the last few shows. REVERSE STYLE

LONDON DAY 2: THE JAGUAR SHOE

What began as a pretty shitty sound check ended up being quite a good show! At this point the tiredness of carrying around our hard cases through the Longdan underground and up through endless flights of steep escalators got to us and we were really doing our best to keep the energy going... somewhat at least. When it comes to showtime, sometimes it's best to just work with what you've got. And we did! But considering our tiredness, we didn't stick around too long afterwards. We were hanging around with our friend Josh (from the fantastic 'Kissing On Camera' ITV dating show series) all day and he showed us a good old Hackney time! We got coffee, strange but tasty feta and zaatar swirls, talked shit about a lot of London bands (it could be you!) (only joking) (only joking) and after we got wickedly brilliant Banh Mi rolls from 'Banh Mi Hoi' - heavily recommend.

Here's us chowing down on the aforementioned baguettes. Yummmy

LONDON DAY 1: SEABRIGHT T SHIRT TIME

Now this one may just have been our best London show yet! Perfect sound and an enthusiastic crowd. It was good to catch up with Liam, our live agent who started working with us early this year. 10/10 guy. To line our stomachs we made sure to have a couple beers before we hit the pints in Seababy Baby club.

Something you should know about Search Results is that we are BIG FANS of Middle Eastern food. And boy did we hit the jackpot. Right across the road from the venue is probably the best chicken and lamb shish we have found on our food ventures this far! Here's a pic of Hoban dinner. Overall, it was a lovely evening of old friends and new. Here's to good times in the city of dreams.

On a more sour note, I fucking hate everything. This fucking British asshole fell asleep on my shoulder and slobbered the holy hell out of my arm the entire journey. Grade A lowlife.

AMSTERDAM: PARADISO

This was our best gig ever. We got into Amsterdam around 4pm on Saturday and we weren't on till around 9.30. It being a big showcase festival and all, we didn't want to hang around the venue too long to avoid getting overwhelmed, but it was inevitable really. The venue itself is very pretty. And it was BUSY. A-tray (tour driver and cool guy) got the van parked in the side of the venue and we disappeared down random fancy streets and along picturesque canals recording a rock music video which JPC is going to get to editing when we get back home. Had I took a second to warm up or stretch beforehand maybe it would have been a little easier but really the whole thing was just mad. The remedy I found in the moment was in the hundreds of smiling faces staring back at us as they danced and clapped along like no other crowd we've ever played for before. It was absolutely class. We're lucky boys for sure.

If I had to pick one little instance of note from our waiting around, it would have to be meeting English Teacher. We were a little lost and came across a room in a tight underground corridor of dressing rooms. After noticing a fridge full of cold beers, we decided to indulge, completely oblivious to the sign on the door. A few minutes later, after cracking open more cans than necessary, a man in his forties comes in and asks us the question. "Hey, who are you guys?". To which we replied, "Search Results, who are you guys?". It wasn't until after we had chatted to the band that we really realised we had just dug into the headliners beers right in front of them. However, they were very sweet and didn't seem to mind! Best of luck to them. Nice guys.

Shoutout to these 3 guys who we shadily sold merch to out the back of the van after the show. BTW- we are all sold out of our Bobby Stick designed Tees now.

HALDERN: HALDERN POP BAR

This was the view from the cozy little apartment in Haldern. Right next door was the pub/record store we played in and just like in Antwerp, it was only ourselves on the bill. Europe gives you a lot for free. Konig Pils was one such luxury. It was a late night for Adam and A-Tray as they indulged in what seemed an endless supply of the stuff among the local eccentrics.

Okay that's enough now. This has taken me ages to type cause mail chimp keeps crashing. I tend to get a little sloppy in my writing after the initial excitement of starting a thing. So it goes. Not gonna bother checking this for spelling errors either so go do one.

Hope you're doing well anyway

And oh yeah! Happy Halloween!

Be scared, be frightened,

FB, AH and JPC

4/11/2024 - "Cardigan & Bedtime for Tour time"

The first EU/UK tour for the band known as The Search Results is now over and there's nothing I can do about it. Good morning mailers! I'm on another train homeward bound in an attempt to prolong the illusion of tour time/procrastinate the return to certain current realities.

Neverthefeckingless, we have returned in one piece from Cardigan, Wales. It was a good time. Mornings were filled with roaming around the quiet little village after breakfast made fresh by our sound b&b host. On Friday morning a new friend generously gave us a lift to Poppet beach which looks back on our part of town. We had fun throwing around a ball I bought for my dog (find him attached in the form of our mailchimp logo).

We got into Cardigan on Halloween. Other voices got their spooky on and it did not disappoint. Check out these frightening skels!

This is a picture from Saturday, about 1 minute before we began our set. We met some lovely local cardigan heads who rated us as a "3 chilli band". After the set, we went up to 4! I forgot to ask what the maximum amount of chillis is. If you look closely you can see Adam Hoban signalling to me that it's time to rock. You can always count on Adam Hogan to keep time.

Here's a picture of us with a couple members of the 5 chilli band M(h)aol in a church after the fantastic Fears performance. We had a nice time being tired and pinting together over the last few nights. It was a real highlight 😁✨.

We'd like to send public love and thank yous to Andy who drove us around EU last week and to James and Liam who helped us get on the road for all these great shows!

The heart can be full.

Yours seriously,

SR
